Shades of Me - teal

Hello and welcome to my little corner of the blogging world. I've started this new blog as a place to share my sewing ventures. I sew for my kids, gifts, my home and more recently for myself. I love trying new patterns and techniques and learning more.

Today I'm sharing an outfit I made when I was inspired by Hayley's 'Shades of Me' series over at Welcome to the Mouse House. She and several bloggers have created outfits for themselves after choosing a color. It's been fun to see all of the featured bloggers and those that have linked up. Sewing clothes for myself is something that I've been nervous to do. Kids clothes are so much easier, but I finally gave it a shot.

This is one of my favorite colors. Teal/turquoise/aqua, it's a pretty shade of blue. I had this print and thought it would make for a pretty spring and summer dress. I used the Angie pattern from Scientific Seamstress for the dress and the Julia pattern from Mouse House Creations for the cardigan. Both patterns were excellent.

This was my first time making something with knit fabric (other than attaching a skirt/applique/etc to an  existing shirt). It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I suppose this post could also be titled "Facing Sewing Fears".

And a couple more shots just for fun. Thanks for the inspiration Hayley!
